ship's papers
The documents that the master of a ship must always have available for inspection if required. They include the ship's certificate of registry, bill of health, log book, the ship's articles (muster roll), the charterparty if the ship is on charter (see chartering), cargo manifest and bills of lading, and passenger manifest if it is carrying passengers.
